Melissa & Dan: Married!

As she climbed into her chair, the hair stylist asked, “Now, what have you envisioned your hair to look like for your wedding day?” ”I don’t really care,” Melissa said. And as her bridesmaids spoke in shock, “HOW CAN YOU NOT CARE?!” it was clear she only truly cared about one thing: making Dan, her love and best friend, her husband.

(Needless to say, Melissa looked stunning, and I know she gets it often, but she is totally Natalie Portman‘s stunt double, I swear.)

As I spent the morning with Melissa, I watched her breathe. In and out. In and out. Eagerly anticipating that first glance of her soon-to-be husband. Dylan shot with Dan and the guys, so I can’t say I was able to gauge Dan’s excitement level. But I can say this: The look on Dan’s face when he first saw his bride, was ultimately priceless. It was a look of completeness. A look of “THIS is who I’ve been waiting for my whole life.”

Okay, are you not instantly in love with this little girl?! Her name is Cadence. Just adorable!

So about shoe shots – it is muy importante to play around with a bunch of different locations and placements of the shoes. It yields so much fun and creativity. I couldn’t pick which of Melissa’s shoe shots I liked most, which is why they are all here. :)

A Fresh Start

Ahh. It is here. :) My new, beautiful, better organized, larger and more fun BLOG. It feels like it’s been such a looong time coming, though in reality, my old blog was rather young. Even so, it was about time for an upgrade! And I’m beyond thrilled with the results! *NOTE* This blog is not completely done. You could run into a couple of pages that aren’t quite done yet. But I’ve decided to simply consider it a fabulous work in progress. And really, I just couldn’t stand not sharing it with ya’ll! Finally!!

If you take a peek around, you might notice that all of my old blog posts are here. This was NOT easily decided, I tell you.. My reasons for not wanting to do this included: my embarrassment at some of my images early on – though they satisfied my clients, I am definitely my own worst critic (or, let’s hope!); my realization that I am watermark-happy and can’t seem to find one I can love and stick with; the flippant way in which I have ordered my images; and the huge number of photos per shoot that I used to upload (readers don’t want to sift through 50 decent shots, they want fewer, really great ones!).

And yet, the reasons for doing so completely outweigh the cons. First and foremost, I have learned SO much from looking through my old stuff and reading how I used to write posts. I like to think that I’ve come a long way since my first blog’s humble debut. I’ve definitely grown in the manner in which I edit. I’ve learned to make a lot more time for blogging. And I’ve learned to use my blog not only as a way of sharing my work, but as a way of sharing who I am with my clients. It’s my hope that other people will be able to see this growth, and thus, I have not changed a thing about my previous posts. (Although I winced about every 60 seconds while reading them!)

Anywho! This is my blog! I look forward to do so much more with it than ever before! And because every post is better with pictures, check out the pic of this sweet little guy, from a recent family shoot I’ll add in the coming week!

Tidbit Tuesday #2 and Announcement!!

Woohooot! It’s Tuesday again. Let the musings begin..

So.. Dylan is back on project. This time: Houston, TX. His company requires him to travel during the week (but thankfully, flies him back to me every weekend). But while I should be used to it by now, I honestly don’t think I’ve ever have been or ever will be. For the past three months while Dylan was in between projects, I’ve enjoyed his company every single day. Well, maybe not much on Saturdays, Sundays AND Mondays (oh football…), but at least he was there, sitting right next to me. Oh how I miss my boy. Can’t we just be married already? Hmmph.

I can barely wait to go home this weekend! Home to Sharon. To family and to my chocolate lab Sarah and to my 15 lb. cat Mony. This weekend, the entire family will be together, future husband/son/brother-in-law Dylan included. My older sister will also be visiting from NYC for her birthday weekend. I’m so excited for the comfort of home and for those meals that keep you at the dining room table for hours, talking and laughing and just being. Together.

GET THIS. I actually made a decision for our wedding. Like, a real one. My girls are wearing different shades of gray, as I considered in this post. Dylan also reserved his suit! A dark charcoal suit. When I saw it on him, my jaw literally fell off. HOTTNESS. I can’t wait to see him standing at the end of the aisle in his perfect suit, waiting for me.

Oh, so, I’m pretty sure I have sciurophobia. Yes. A fear of squirrels. In Syracuse, the squirrels are possessed, I swear. Not only are they the size of a small cat, but they will literally seek you out and stare you down until you shrink away in terror. The other day, I got out of class and began walking down this small ramp, when a HUGE black squirrel scurried over and just sat there, not letting me cross. In true sciurophobia-fashion, I slowly and quietly took a few steps backward and began walking in a different direction. I then looked around hoping no one saw such ridiculous behavior. But I’m pretty sure they did..

You’ll have to excuse me.. I feel very scatter-brained today (it is Tidbit Tuesday, after all!). But MAYBE it’s because I’m so distracted about my NEW BLOG!! (Here’s the announcement part.) This coming Saturday, I will be releasing my new, beautiful, professional blog. And if you haven’t guessed, I am crazy excited about it! I am so eager to rebrand my business through a fresh start in blogging and booking shoots for the coming year. So! Keep your eyes peeled! And book your session today! :)

Happy Tuesday!!
