Houston City Hall Engagement: Ali & Ben

I love me a bride who knows what she wants. When I first met Ali back in November, she booked me on the spot, described all of the most beautiful details she was dying to have shots of (my kind of girl), and with giddy excitement written all over her GORGEOUS face, she told me about her Ben. About how they met. About how he proposed. And in a roundabout way, about how she knows what she wants. And it was him. :)

Without further ado, I am soo excited to introduce you to Ali and Ben. Their August wedding day sounds way too beautiful for words. So we will have to wait and see. :) Much love and thanks to A & B for spending their afternoon capturing some of my new favorites images! XOXO!!

There’s always something so magical about shooting at City Hall. And there was just enough breeze so I didn’t have to whip out the wind machines. :)
Meet Dax and Grady. The sweetest boys ever.
Aren’t they lovely?
Laaawve.
Ben is so sweet with his girl. Seeing how two people so in love interact is such a treat!
Architecture win. :)
Ali… Your teeth. Your hair. Your skin. You’re beautiful.
Girls! She got the dress at Nordstrom. I’m SO on it.
Exploring a bit more of our little oasis downtown.
Best moment ever. Because this?
This. Is happiness.

Happy Wednesday to all!!

Tidbit Tuesday #68

As I’ve blogged about before, I’m now on a certain Glee-kick I never want to recover from. So I just had to share the Sue Sylvester soundboard I came across last week. One day, I hope to possess just a sliver of Sue‘s cleverness and whit. You know, to use on Dylan or something. One of my favorite one liners: If I was out to get you, I’d have you pickling in a mason jar on my shelf by now! ;)

Who doesn’t love a good TV marathon? Okay, apart from back-to-back inner city gang documentaries (Dylan’s guilty pleasure), I love me a good marathon. Yesterday, HGTV had about four solid hours of Curb Appeal: The Block, where one home gets a $20K facade makeover, and two neighbors’ homes get $1K mini-makeovers. I was in heaven. And you should maybe, probably, definitely watch it.

As much as the current state of our apartment contradicts what I’m about to say, I’m all about living simplistically and clutter-free. With any given deep-cleanse of our home, I end up with seven garbage bags full of things I have NO idea why I didn’t throw out the last time. This is all to say, the amount of toys in Sully’s collection has seemingly overtaken our entire place, but I just don’t have the heart to downsize on his account. George and Gus (yes, we name our toys around here) are valuable members of this family. This also makes me rethink my whole future one-toy-per-kid, in-the-form-of-a-brown-paper-bag philosophy.

Speaking of kids, the other day I was randomly reminded of a book my mom, and every other mom on the planet, has read to their babies and even to themselves: Love You Forever by Robert N. Munsch and Sheila McGraw. I remember absolutely loving the rhythm and rhyme of the words, and the detail of the illustrations. But now that I actually get the story, I love it even more. So! I ordered it. In HARD cover. And now I’m on a mission to own the rest of my favorite childhood books. Next up? Uncle Wiggily’s Story Book. And Mercer Mayer. Every. Single. One. What’s YOUR fave? :)

Song of the Week: Heartbeats by Jose Gonzales. Dylan reminded me of this song yesterday with a “I really think you’d like this one!” Oh, but I’m waaay ahead of you, dear. Heartbeats has been a favorite of mine since I first heard it at, of all places, a wedding. And since I’ve recently picked up my guitar again, this song is sooo on my Ultimate Guitar learning queue.

Our new blog-scheduling norm is quickly becoming Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday. So I’ll leave you with a sneak of tomorrow, and a sneak of Friday. And well, Sunday is April’s 1 For Me // 1 For You, so I can’t ruin the surprise… :)

Happy Tuesday!

March 29, 2011 - 3:50 PM

Jill Bogli - Oh no! I forgot “If you give a mouse a cookie” and “Chrysanthemum”!!

March 29, 2011 - 11:38 AM

Jill Bogli - It’s okay, we name our dog toys too. Well, it’s more we call them whatever they are. “Green ball” and “Racoon” and “Tire toy”. And of course you need The Night Before Christmas (in hardcover) and Goodnight Moon :)

March 29, 2011 - 9:58 AM

Heather - After reading Love You Forever, my mom slightly altered the poem, and to this day “sings” it before hanging up the phone, or saying goodnight when I’m home visiting. It sounds utterly ridiculous to type this, but it’s such a part of our routine, and just the epitome of our relationship :) How about The Velveteen Rabbit? You will feel better about keeping Sully’s toys! And go pick up “The Art of Racing in the Rain,” for an adult read. Absolutely heartbreaking, but ultimately an happy book. I laughed, cried… loved it.

Michelangelo, Voltaire and Sully Morrissey

I never knew I could love a baby dog this much. We’ve had Sully for 11 weeks now, and as much as he’s naughty, he brings us so, soo much joy. So now, because a picture is worth a thousand words, here’s 14,000. We’ll let the pictures do the talking. ;) First up, Sully giving us his iconic power stance.

The classic head tilt that we all know and love. :)
Slightly reminiscent of Michelangelo’s Creation of Adam painting, no?
Because this is what happened 95% of the time… :)
His profile makes me melt.
Looking a bit terrified, but it’s worth the cuteness.
This is us trying to convince ourselves that he’s not as dumb as he seems. ;)
My happy, baby-kid-tiny-dawg!
Favorite!
Brushing up on his Voltaire. No really.
Yes, we bought these glasses specifically with Sully in mind. Don’t hate. ;)
And we end with a picture that basically encompasses why I love him so much. He’s cute.

Happy Sunday all!
