Houston Racquet Club Wedding: Jessica & Pablo

Jessica and I met online. (And now a short pause and a giggle for how silly that sounds.) :) We met online, and before ever meeting face to face, Jessica had booked her photographer and I had blocked off a beautiful day in mid-April to shoot their wedding. I was excited. But it wasn’t until Jess and I met for her bridals that I realized how excited I could become. This girl is the definition of sweetness and kindness and completely hysterical funniness. And she has undoubtedly stolen the heart of not only her now-husband Pablo, but the heart of her photographer as well. :) I was so happy to finally meet Pablo on the day of his wedding. A man equally as kind, with a sense of humor made for Jessica.

J & P – I was so honored to capture this most important day in your life together. Many hugs and many thanks for your love and trust!! XOXO!!

Meet Jessica. I love this girl. :)

Jess and her girls had a bouquet making party the day before and they did an amaaazing job!
I can’t imagine a dress better suited for this bride. Yay for Paloma Blanca!
The Houston Racquet Club provided such a gorgeous backdrop for Jessica’s bridals.
This just makes me smile. :)
And because guys take five minutes to get ready, here is Pablo right before!
Love this moment of culmination and joy! BAM.
Right before the sun went down, we were able to get a few shots of the newly minted bride and groom.
Jessica, you’re stunning.
Jessica and her sweet mom used various family heirloom vases, tea cups, and other containers to create these gorgeous centerpieces. And I was totally smitten with this old-school cake topper! Cake by Edible Designs by Jessie.
Funny story… My flash didn’t fire for this particular image of Pablo and his mother. But I ended up loving this shot even more than I would if it had. :)
Pablo and Jess have some mean footwork.
And the bubble escape! Happy. :)

Happy Friday!!

Downtown Engagement: Aly & Marc

I first met Aly and Marc the night our car was towed. We met in our apartment complex’s lobby as a substitute for the Starbucks farther downtown. And they brought me a green tea frappuccino, since I certainly wouldn’t be able to get my frap on until our car was returned. It is safe to say I loved them from the start. Not just for the frap. But for the way they were so obviously smitten with each other. And for the way we just clicked. What has ensued since? A handful of dinner dates. Our dogs becoming best friends. (Actually quite the opposite… as Sully literally took an entire mouthful of fur right off of Romo’s back.) And late night Wii competitions in which I, Alyse, WON. (And I never win anything remotely athletic.) ;)

We are SO blessed to call Aly and Marc our friends, and we SO look forward to celebrating and capturing their big day when it arrives! And in anticipation of this, we spent a lovely Saturday evening shooting their engagement images at Buffalo Bayou Park. The two spent an entire afternoon scoping out this most perfect session location and they absolutely KILLED it. Huuuge thanks and all our love to Aly and Marc! XOXO!!

I know I’m a bit biased, but aren’t they just the absolute sweetest together?
Love the mix of country meets city skyline that the Buffalo Bayou provides.
One of my favorite things about Aly and Marc is how easily they laugh with one another. :)
Aly, you’re radiant…
Dylan’s shot, and I’m absolutely in looove with it.
Maaarc. Looking handsome!
See, Aly? I told you it only takes ONE second of making your serious face for me to capture it. (Aly would much rather laugh hysterically any day.) ;)
Hottness. And I simply can’t get over the eyes on this girl!
And we’ll end on my favorite moment of the night. :)

Happy Wednesday!

Aly - Alyse! They look AMAZING :) I am completely in awe that you are able to get such awesome pictures!!! We can’t thank you and Dylan enough for being such awesome friends and amazing photographers (car accidents and all). Also I just noticed that there seems to be a pattern with car trouble and getting together Haha!

Tidbit Tuesday #72

If you’re in my phone’s contact list, it’s likely happened to you. Two. Three.. Probably 10 times… A good old fashioned pocket dial from yours truly. :) Thankfully the victims always turn out to be some of my favorite people, which makes me feel a little less embarrassed and/or guilty. (Shout-outs to Emily Gillis and Lindsay Halse!) But this morning, at 4:42AM, I awoke to Dylan saying “Huh? What are you doing?” to my right. And that all-too-familiar “Simply press pound or hang up” female robot to my left. That’s when I realized I’d rolled over onto my phone and called another one of my favorites, the lovely Abbey Sparks. And she’s my cousin. So she has to forgive me. :)

For the past few weeks, Dylan’s been getting countless small packages in the mail. The contents of which I was never allowed to see or dare ask about. “They’re all for you, okay?” Well THAT isn’t going to stop the questions from coming! “But why? It’s not my birthday. It’s not even my half-birthday! OH, is it just because you looove me??” Then Easter came along. And apparently all my hinting at receiving an Easter basket paid off. With all sorts of home-made sweets from Etsy, INCLUDING candy sushi. I do believe he loves me!

So. Dylan and I got into a car accident this past weekend, t-boned by a guy who ran a red light. I joked with some friends the other day about how I wasn’t even allowed that whole “life flashes before your eyes” moment, because it all happened SO fast. And in that sense, I sort of felt cheated. Up until Saturday, I had never been in an accident – apart from hitting the bumper of a parked car going two miles per hour. As we almost cleared the intersection, I saw an SUV coming straight for me in the passenger seat, but somehow thought “This is going to end up like every other CLOSE CALL.” But then, Dylan recalls seeing the other vehicle drive straight into my side, while I was too busy bracing myself and trying to hide my face in Dylan’s chest. Both side airbags deployed, and glass went flying. But by God’s grace we walked out of the car with our only injury being some bruising on my right arm where the airbag hit me. Every day since has left me more grateful for this life God so obviously wanted us to continue.

Can I just break this humdrum mood I’ve created by telling you how much it bothers me to see every one of these tidbits ending about a third of the way into their final lines? While the actual term escapes me, in graphic design, this is a HUGE no-no. And so I will proceed to tell you about my friend Krystal and I, who, when we were about 8-years-old, filled an entire tupperware container with worms found around her house. And in order to fill it up more quickly, we’d simply rip the worms in half. Clever. Or at least I thought so. :) And that right there? THAT is a tidbit suitable for the world of graphic design. ;)

Song of the Week: Bigger Than Us by White Lies. The Alt Nation channel on Sirius XM Radio turned me onto the White Lies and this magic little number. Although I have to admit, after looking up the lyrics this morning, it is clear that I’m quite bad at deciphering any real words that come out of this guy’s mouth. :) Check the MP3 HERE and the official (and creepy) music video HERE.

And now I’ll leave you with a small peek at tomorrow’s post. Aly and Marc! I’ll also have another wedding waiting for you later in the week, so stay tuned. :)

Happy Tuesday!!
