Tuscany Villa Wedding: Rachel & Travis

Yesterday had me all reminiscent. It had me thankful. As I remembered the fear that came along with moving to a brand new city, with no friends and no family that lived there, I was reminded all of the beautiful friendships we’ve made since then, Rachel and Travis included… Theirs were the first faces to greeted us the very day of our arrival to Houston. Only then, it was a client meeting.. And now it’s funny to think there was ever a time when we weren’t friends. Because every encounter since then has involved some form of sushi or pizza or ice cream, or me calling them after our car was towed and Dylan was out of town and I had no idea what to do. Friendship. Plain and simple.

And THAT is why this post means so much to us. Dylan, Amber, and I had the very recent honor of documenting a day when our friends (who happened to be clients) promised their love and lives to one another. So, whereas any other client’s wedding day I’d get all misty-eyed… On this day, there were definitely some full fledged tears forming. No blog post can properly convey the happiness we feel for our dear friends, or our thankfulness to have them in our lives. Rach and Travis, we hope these images are a start. :) XOXO!!

Rachel and Travis got hitched at the Tuscany Villa in Katy, TX. Just gorgeous.

I was in LOVE with Rachel’s Kate Spade shoes. Totally blingin’.

Floral by Polak Petals. :)

Dylan and I were so thankful to have Amber Jacoby along to shoot the big day with us. Here’s one of her shots!
undefined
I can post this moment because I’m a friend. :)
undefined
Dylan captured this moment of Rach’s dad before seeing his daughter in her dress for the first time.
undefined
And Amber and I tag-teamed this one. Perhaps the most emotional moment of the entire day.
undefined
undefined
Then we were able to hang with the guys a bit before the ceremony.
undefined
Amber shot this super cool shot of the guys. I’m sorta jealous I didn’t take it myself. ;)
undefined
Ceremony time. This is what I refer to as the “THERE she is” moment. :)

undefined
The details at this wedding were so fancy and SO Rachel and Travis. Especially loved the pink uplighting!

Special thanks to Barbara Suarez of More Than Cakes for the gorgeousness that is below.

Loved this first dance moment. :)

And this best man’s speech was quite obviously awesome.

Memorial Park Engagement: Abby & Sean

“When you are high on inspiration, you can get two weeks of work done in 24 hours. Inspiration is a time machine in that way.” Leave it to Seth Godin to speak the truf. Last night, due in part to insomnia, and in part to trying to keep as up-to-date with this ultra-busy wedding/engagement season as possible, I blog-prepped Abby and Sean’s e-sesh. And to the tune of Sully’s crescendoing snore, I thanked Seth for giving me the permission to bang it out. At 12AM.

Now on a completely non-intellectual note… Abby and Sean met on a boat. And when I found this out, I suddenly found myself wrapped up in the T-Pain music video playing out in my head. I’m totally hip. But you know who’s hipper? If hipper is a word? Abby. She is an absolute classic beauty with a style fit for an Anthro catalogue. And Sean? Equally as hip, kind, and in love with his bride-to-be. I was so blessed to shoot these images. And I can’t wait for their upcoming October wedding! XOXO to Abby and Sean, both!! :)

I love, loove, looove when daylight savings begins, and we’re able to shoot at the tail-end of the day in this gorgeous, buttery-golden light.

I know I say it a lot… :) But I’m not sure if I’ve ever shot an image I’ve loved more than the one below (left).

Funny, random story about dandelions. When my sister and I were kids and knew that dad was about to mow the lawn and thus, kill all of the dandelions, we’d both run out and ‘save their lives’ by picking them before dad could get to them. Thus, killing them anyway. :)
undefined
Are you serious, Abby? Beautiful.
undefined
undefined
undefined
And they BOTH have the most incredibly blue eyes.
undefined
undefined
There goes Sean, looking all handsome.
undefined
undefined
undefined
Abby’s pup Colby Jack came along for the shoot. But he was much more interested in the sign than my camera. :)

A happy and inspiring Thurdsay to all! Now, for putting the finishing touches on tomorrow’s wedding post of our sweet friends. :)

Tidbit Tuesday #71

I’d like to take this opportunity to profess my undying love for eggs benedict. Much like Maggie Carpenter in Runaway Bride, I used to think my favorite style of eggs was scrambled. But I’m now a changed woman… This past weekend, Dylan and I grabbed brunch with some past clients and I had the most AMAZING breakfast of. my. life. Eggs florentine (basically eggs benedict with the addition of artichoke hearts – YUM) at Mia Bella Trattoria in downtown Houston is a MUST for all you Maggie’s out there. And the bottomless mimosas didn’t hurt one bit either.

Tonight represents one of my toughest conundrums yet. Both Glee AND One Tree Hill air on the same night at the SAME time. Fortunately I can DVR one while watching the other, but I’m already stressed out about not being able to watch them simultaneously. :) By the way, I’ve decided that my favorite Glee character is, without a doubt, Artie. And then Kurt. And then Brittany. Who is yours?!

I’ve been on an obvious shoe kick lately. First my RunTones, then my random Nine West pump binge, and now I got me some Toms that I am in luuurve with. Which brings me to… Did you know all you brides out there have a ton of fun Toms shoes as options for your big day? Imagine not having to ice your feet at the end of your wedding night because you were comfy AND metro-stylish in your wedding Toms. :)

Now that I’m an adult, I have a much more frequent tendency to forget about important holidays. Mostly because I don’t get a day off for Abe’s birthday, and I don’t have my mom asking which types of candy I’d like in my Easter basket. But not to worry mom, I’ve already told Dylan he’ll need to assemble a nice little basket of Cow Tales and Spree this Sunday. And NOT hide it in the dryer. You always thought the dryer was an original hiding spot. ;)

Speaking of holidays, I’m naming today “Wash-the-Dog, Clean-the-Apartment, Re-Boot and Re-Focus” Day. It’s a holiday I need to take at least once a week. It’s funny… You’d assume that being your own boss frees you to make your own hours and power down whenever you want or need to. But photogs, represent… It never really goes that way. Today I’m committing to taking some of my life back. First? The dog and his mangy toe nails.

Song of the Week: Second Chance by Pete Bjorn and John. Apart from the major amount of cowbell in this song, there’s also a MAJOR amount of cowbell in this song. Which automatically makes it amazing. And happy. And jig-inducing. Check out the MP3 HERE, and the video HERE.

I’ll leave you with this little peek of Rachel & Travis’s wedding day, which was compleeetely blingin’. :) Look for it on the blog later this week!!

Happy Tuesday!!

Molly - Alyse-

I just recently started working at a breakfast restaurant and was getting bored with my normal scrambled breakfast, but like you I’d never had anything else.. HOWEVER.. I agree. I’m a changed lady. Eggs benedict with some delicious toast to soak up every last bite? I don’t think I’ll ever go back. love what you’re doing!

Aimee - Brunch is my favorite meal ever! You haven’t had true southern Brunch until you have Shrimp & Grits. Backstreet Cafe has an awesome brunch. Those shoes are making me really looking forward to seeing the upcoming blog :)
