Tidbit Tuesday #77

It’s Tuesday. But I didn’t realize that until about 10 seconds ago… Traveling this past week, coupled with celebrating Memorial Day yesterday has my entire sense of time screwed up. But not to worry. This Tuesday brings with it a vast array of ridiculously random and semi-embarrassing tids.. :)

Yesterday, Dylan and I went grocery shopping. (For whatever reason, we always seem to do it together. It kind of warms my heart…) While Dylan picked up some buns, I was sent down the soda isle. And as I cradled a liter of diet Dr. Pepper in my right arm, I was reminded of flour baby. Yes. Flour baby. When I was eight, I used to sneak into our pantry with the single intention of cradling a bag of all-purpose flour in my arms. Because it weighed roughly the same as a real baby would. And it was nearly as long. The only difference between my flour baby and the real thing was the funny white powder that always seemed to be leaking from the corners. And that, Internet? Is random. And embarrassing.

Why is it that you can go an entire three-hour flight successfully avoiding talking to the creepy old man to your left, and then he begins telling you his life story just two minutes before touching down? This scenario played out on both legs of my trip home on Monday. I think I’m going to start calling it the Alyse Aviation Theory: You will ALWAYS end up sitting next to the oddest person on your flight. Always. :)

It’s the simple things that fascinate me to no end… This past weekend, I had my first-ever encounter with water beads, and I am now forever changed. Those of you who are unfamiliar will think I’m a freak. But those of you who are will totally agree with my sentiment. That is all for now. Maybe I’m the oddest person..

Song of the Week: Poison and Wine by The Civil Wars. I have my sister to thank for this find. There’s just something about the blending of this group’s two voices, and the fact that one is a Jack Sparrow look-a-like that makes me love this song more and more with each listen. Increeedibly written. And a remarkably produced video. Listen to it. Watch it. Buy it. Now!

I’ll now leave you with a couple sneaks of what’s coming up on the blog this week. First, my brother Cam and his GORGEOUS girlfriend Casey’s super adorable, crazy fun, just because session. O.M.GAH. They were amazing. Set to post tomorrow! :) And then come back on Friday for the single most awesome collaborative styled shoot I’ve ever been a part of. With concept and peeerfect floral by Hannah Crosby, and modeling done by none other than the fabulous Martha Swann and her man, Mr. Rob Long! And if this tidbit hasn’t properly conveyed my excitement over these two shoots: AHHH!!! Come on back! :)

Happy Monday. I mean, Tuesday!

Downtown Houston Engagement: Tammy & Sonny

He was a hairdresser. And she had great hair. You see, Internet, Sonny’s brother owns the salon where Tammy and Sonny met their match – in each other – so very long ago. She’d been coming there for years… And somewhere between sectioning and spritzing, layering and trimming, Sonny made his way into Tammy’s heart. And vice versa. The love that has since formed is something so beautiful and so pure, that my job was made effortless. Tammy and Sonny simply exist to love each other. And my lens and I were the ones lucky blessed enough to be on the receiving end of such beauty and grace.

T & S – Thank you! For everything. For a shoot you absolutely kiiilled. For dinner and conversation that warmed my soul. For newfound friendship. AND for the inevitable future advice I’ll beg of you on how I should next style my hurrr. :) Here’s hoping you enjoy this sneak of your images!! XOXO!!

Oh, and before you have to ask… All hair done by Sonny Vo. :)
Tammy!! SHUT UP. How can ONE girl be THAT beautiful?
So proud of some of these images I could just squeal. :)
If you squint, you may be able to envision Tammy in her wedding dress. If this is any indication of what’s to come, then November come quickly!
Love, love!!
A quick costume change, and my favorite new tree in all of Houston. :)
The “sweet nothings” move. ;)
Sonny, you so fierce right now.
Just so enthralled with the city sprawled out in the background.
Tam. You are flaw. less.
And maybe.. JUST maybe my favorite image from the shoot. Or have I said that already? Tammy and Sonny make picking favorites waaay hard.

Happy Thursday, y’all!!

Tidbit Tuesday #76

Okay… I don’t quite consider myself a movie-watching kind of girl. Unless it involves breaking out into song and dance. But Bridesmaids has got to be the most incredibly funny/entertaining/funny movie I’ve ever seen. Dylan and I wanted to see it again immediately after walking out of the theatre. It was THAT awesome. If my memory serves me correctly, the only movie I’ve seen in theatres twice was National Treasure, with Nicholas Cage, of all people. And although I realize this probably doesn’t help my case at ALL, you’ve just got to believe me about Bridesmaids. And take me along if you’re up for seeing it..

In 48 hours I will be on my way home for the first time in six months. I am anticipating lunch with friends, meeting a friend’s sweet little baby for the first time ever, more lunch with more friends, shooting the wedding day of a friend I’ve been friends with for nearly 20 years, and a collaborative project with a friend that is sure to woo your socks off. And lest I make it seem as though this trip is merely about friends and food, it is also about family. Lorae and Cam and I will all be under the same roof for a period of three days! Which means laughter-filled slumber parties in my room and getting half-laughed/half-yelled at by the parentals.

All of my dreams happen in high school. Or at least that’s what Dylan tells me. Every morning he is sure to hear the same two things: 1) “Aren’t you going to ask me about my dream?” and 2) “I was sitting at my desk during 4th period when…” True to form, last night I dreamt I had to borrow a biology book from a random girl thousands of miles away, or else I’d flunk a test I hadn’t even attempted to study for. Thankfully, I woke up before ever having to open the book.

We got out car back!! After a full month of driving a bright red, cigarette smoke-infused, rental Impala, our precious Milan has been perfectly restored to its pre-accident state of glory. In honor of this new phase of its life, I’ve decided our car needs a name. But I just can’t make up my mind concerning whether it should be a girl, or a boy car. You roll your eyes. But I’m dead serious… These are the things I think about. Name suggestions, anybody? ;)

Song of the Week: Someone to Fall Back On by Jason Robert Brown. For those of you not already aware, I am a closet theatre buff. My teen years were spent impersonating Guys and Dolls‘ Sarah Brown, Peter Pan‘s Liza, and Cinderella‘s Portia, and tacking Broadway Playbills to the wall behind my bed. Well, I’ve recently fallen back in love with the musical talent of the BEST composer/lyricist on planet earth, Jason Robert Brown. And Someone to Fall Back On is one of my million favorites of his. :) P.S. You should see Sully’s face when I break out into belted vibrato.

I’ll leave you with a hint of a session I’ve so desperately been wanting to post ever since it was shot last Wednesday. This one is for the archives, folks. An amazing couple with the most adorable story EVER. You won’t want to miss Tammy and Sonny’s downtown Houston engagement.

Happy Tuesday!!
