Tidbit Tuesday #89

You know those memories that are vague/outlandish enough, that you’re 51% convinced that those memories were actually just dreams? I feel I have way too many of those, since I’ve had extremely vivid/complicated dreams nearly every night of my life. (Just last night, my apparently wheelchair-stricken father had morphed into Dylan just before catching dinner and the Super Bowl with some friends in Portland…) But, back to memories. I have this one memory of my 10-year-old self walking all the way from downtown Sharon to my old house on Slate Hill Rd. That’s FIVE miles of walking. Alone. As a 10-year-old. For NO reason. I’ve recently concluded that there is no way I was ever that awesome, or ever had parents who’d be okay with that. I guess it was a dream?

The other day while spending a full 10 seconds deciding whether to use a big fork or a small fork to eat my lunch, I realized that I’m probably not normal. Here’s the scoop… Say you’re about to eat ice cream. And you LOOOVE ice cream. Wouldn’t you go for the smallest spoon possible, since going for the larger spoon would mean eating your ice cream faster, AKA, making it non-existent much sooner? Eating your favorite meals with the smallest utensils possible makes you eat slower so your favorite meals can last longer. And that? Is straight out of Alyse’s Book of Facts. BAM.

This past weekend Dylan and I drove all over kingdom come looking for a couple of wooden pallets to make into a coffee table. A coffee table likeĀ this… Neither one of us is particularly handy, but for some reason, we’re now all “wooden pallet coffee table or BUST!!” After driving to Home Depot, then Lowes, then another Home Depot, then another Lowes, and various dumpsters in between, we still came up with nada. But this weekend (which I have OFF!) we are resolving to make this happen. And we’ll be sure to blog some before and after pictures! :)

Speaking of being crafty, I’ve decided I’ve put off beautifying our bedroom for faaar too long. After living in this apartment for over a year, I’ve decided our room needs a legit overhaul. And so, I spent all day yesterday rearranging the furniture that works, and throwing away the furniture that didn’t. It’s crazy what a simple rearranging can do. And how it can throw out your back. ;) We now have SO much more room, and even a little seating area at the foot of our bed. Today’s project is to get started on a frame collage. Do any blog readers out there have a favorite piece of art/word art?

Song of the Week: Dream by Priscilla Ahn. A little old school at this point, but always a goody. This song makes me want to curl up in our fancy new-to-us room with a cup of tea and a cool breeze coming through lace-curtained windows. And although I might have to wait until December for Houston to give us that cool breeze, this song definitely makes it worth the wait… Buy the MP3 HERE, and watch the music video HERE.

This week’s scheduled posts are packed with the beauty that is Becca and Chris. First up? Becca’s insanely gooorgeous bridals. And then a sneak peek at B&C’s wedding day images. It was an incredible day. And I’m soo stoked to share!! So check on back. ;)

Happy Tuesday!!

Agave Road Wedding: Ali & Ben

The doctor had told them to expect a boy. So baby Ben’s nursery was filled with all sorts of baby boy things in anticipation of his arrival. But when the big day came, little Ben ended up being a little Alexandra. Or Ali, for short. And as Ali’s big sister Sarah would say in her matron of honor speech 23 years later, she had been robbed of a little brother named Ben. Until last Friday… When Ali Smith married Ben MacMillan, two families combined to make one, and Ali’s family got the Ben they never had. I was truly honored to play a part in documenting this very special day, 23 years in the making if you think about it one way, and seven years in the making if you count all the years since the 8th grade that Ali and Ben have been together. :)

A & B – Thank you for including me in your most beautiful day. I hope you’re busy enjoying yourselves in Punta Cana! And I hope you enjoy this ginormous peek at your images. It was a little difficult to pare down, so I hope that’s okay. ;) XOXO!!!

There are no words for this Mori Lee dress. Okay, maybe one. Gorgeous..

Get ready to see a lot of yellow, beginning with Ali’s adorable sunshiney shoes!
The bridal suite was full of giggles, excitement and mimosas. Yummm.
Special shout out to Sunkissed and Made Up, as well as Kendra Cheatwood for making this bride and her girls look fabulous with hair and makeup.
How many bridesmaids does it take to put a bride’s dress on? ;)
Ali. You are flawless.
Ben, reading a letter from his soon-to-be wife, complete with doodles and curly q’s. :)
The groomsmen, looking sharp! And I’m lovin’ the mismatched suits.
Such a fun moment! :)
Ali and Ben chose to shoot their groom’s party and bridal party portraits separately, and THEN have a first look, which I am always 150% FOR! Including a first look in the timeline also allowed us to capture bride and groom portraits prior to the ceremony.
Ali got a majorly cute frame from Hobby Lobby for these pictures, so all the cred goes to her! :)
This will only make sense to about two blog readers, but Ben looks so much like my cousin Alex it’s not even funny. Yet another reason to love A&B!
Some last-minute touches before the ceremony begins (i.e., Ali’s sweet older sister Sarah putting in her veil).
The outside ceremony site left no detail unaccounted for.
Lemony ice water, programs shaped like fans, and a Heaven-sent breeze helped offset the record breaking heat advisory on that hot, hot day.
Isn’t it perfect?
Agave Road‘s in-house florist, Tonya, did an outstanding job on all floral anywhere and everywhere, but especially on the fireplace mantle!
Loved this totally charming spin on the traditional petal-throwing role of flower girl.
Ali was an absolute vision walking down the aisle.
One of my favorite parts of the entire day was the moment below… When the officiant was praying over the bride and groom, Ben couldn’t help but stare up at Ali with the biggest smile I’ve ever seen. :) Oh, and little Josh to the right looked on curiously.
Ali.. Ben… For not practicing “THE kiss,” it sure looks like you did. ;)
I love, love, love LOVE. And their reactions in this image!
Succulents have GOT to be the way to my heart.
Edible Designs by Jessie nailed it yet again. This was one of the most interesting and intricate cake designs ever! Just stunning.
Reception time! And the toasts were a hit.
In culling these images for blogging, I couldn’t help but laugh out loud at how much this photo resembles the one below it. :) These two got DOWN.
And this one? Simply speaks to all the ridiculously cool fun Ali and Ben’s entire day was. So glad to have been a part of it!

Happy Friday!!

Angleton Bridal Portraits: Kelly

Ever since making the treck out to Angleton this past May to shoot Kelly’s bridals at the GORGEOUS Varner-Hogg Plantation, I’ve wanted to show her off soo badly. The willow trees, the architecture, and the history were so inspiring to work with, not to mention working with the sweetest bride ever. And thankfully, now that Kelly and Jared have gone off and gotten married, I no longer have to keep this super fun shoot under wraps. :) I hope you enjoy this mini sneak peek!!

Aren’t these white wrought-iron chairs, and white fence so gorgeous?! I could use them as backdrops all day long!
Kelly! You are breath.taking. And that dress? Was made for you.
I absolutely fell in love with this 1940′s Ford, once belonging to Kelly’s late grandfather. Such a cool history!
Waaah-ooork it, girl.
Love the emotion here. :)
Upon seeing these ginormous rows of trees, I felt like I was entering a movie set. It surely couldn’t have been real… Oh, but it was! And it was beautiful.

Love and hugs to Kelly!! Happy Wednesday!!
