1 For Me // 1 For You | March 2012

I am a complete sucker for a good pillow. And I’m not talking about pillows you sleep with… I actually HATE sleeping with pillows. But pillows for decoration? I’m a firm believer that you can never have enough of them! And if you’ve ever seen our living room, you know that’s a fact… It turns out, however, that my taste changes a little too often. When we first moved into our home, I was all about crazy pops of color to offset both of our white couches. But as I grow older and wiser (yeah, riiight) I am finding myself drawn to more muted tones. Creams and light browns and soft blues, for example. That’s when I decided we needed a pillow makeover. And perhaps, you might too! Which brings me to March’s 1 For Me // 1 For You. But first, let’s review the rules:

  • What is it? It’s simple! If I have one of something that I find fashionable, functional, or just plain fun, I send the winner a duplicate.
  • Who can enter? Friends, past/present clients, random readers, etc.! (Please see the not-so-fine print below for full rules and restrictions.)
  • How long do I have to enter? You’ll have until next Saturday, March 10th at midnight CST to enter. The winner will be chosen at random using the random number generator at Random.org and announced the next morning, Sunday, March 11th.
  • SWEET! How do I enter? You must comment (and answer the specific question asked at the end of this post) to enter. It’s suuuper easy!! Comments left via FacebookTwitter or elsewhere will not be taken into consideration.
  • But why? Because – like I said – you can NEVER have enough pillows. Period. The End.

This month’s winnings will be in the form of pillow covers! That’s right. COVERS. That can totally transform the look of your current pillows without throwing them out! I’ve been eyeing a couple covers from West Elm for a while, and this little contest finally granted me the opportunity to take the plunge… Now, I know not all of us share the same love for the color palette or design of the covers below, so the winner will be given a $75 credit toward any pillow covers his/her heart desires from West Elm! You can take a look at all of your options HERE. As for our own fancy pillow transformations…

Our hand-blocked silk Casablanca pillow cover currently holds TWO of the most ugly/flattened excuses for pillows inside it. But you’d never know it! I’m also in LOVE with our new solid silk hand loomed pillow cover in slate! There’s a bright orange pillow inside it! Talk about change!

Dog whining for his toys under the couch not included… :)

Question: Pick a pillow, any pillow, and tell me why it’s your favorite! :)

Not-so-fine print: Only one entry allowed per person. All contestants must live within the continental United States and must be able to provide a valid mailing address upon winning. I am not responsible for items that are lost, stolen or damaged during shipment. The winner will have 24 hours to contact me and redeem the item or a new winner will be chosen.

Callie - definitely the gray deconstructed rose pillow :) i love the sweet simplicity contrasting with the 3-D texture….

Stephanie Cronk - My favorite would have to be the Random Sparkle – my reason is simple- my almost four-year-old daughter told me today “sparkles are great, I just love sparkleys” So, there you have it. I have a new found love for sparkles because of my daughters love for sparkles LOL!

Megan Gielow - LOVE West Elm! The diamond links are pretty sweet!

Lisa Tran - Great giveaway! The oasis cover…because everyone needs one sooner or later!!

Courtney D - My favorite is the Random Sparkle Pillow Cover!

kate d - sparkle sparkle sparkle. because who doesn’t love sparkles??

Carol Horton - I like the Embroidered Winter Branch…the design is simple and nature inspired, the fabric has some texture, and the offset of the branch appeals to me. And I love neutral and calm colors. Life is hectic enough…when I come home I don’t want my stuff shouting at me (red shouts really loud, I don’t have much red in my house). By the way, the pooch is priceless!

Kasey - I love the embroidered diamond links pillow in the soot color! It’s classy, yet decorative and in a color that’s not too overstated. Love it!

Jesslyn Amber - Amazing giveaway Alyse!!! :)

I love the sparkle one!!! And the diamond links! :)
They would look perfect on my couch!

It matches my living room and has a great background story… “Among many Moroccan Berber tribes, Battani stripes signify the weaver’s own family crest. Each of these pillows is crafted and sewn from a Moroccan Battani rug”. Thanks and your photography always amazes me!

April Islip - My favorite pillow is my Blue Bonnet Sue! Yes I still have it!! What can be cooler than having a pillow that looks like a doll?? She even has legs with shoes and socks! And of course a bonnet on her head. I loved this pillow as a little girl :)

Michelle Able - LOVEEEE the slate colored one, almost as much as I love your puppy!!

Abby Grace - Dang, that’s a hard choice. I really like the embroidered diamond links one, but the solid silk hand loomed one is totally rad too! I have terrible taste in interior design, though, so what I think looks great is probably totally boring to other people. lol

Cali Huber - Ah, I love yours TOGETHER! But, if I had to pick… I like the knit cover + the silk hand loom cover. Apparently I have this thing for buttons ;)

Liz - Ohhhh tough choice!!! My fave is the embroidered diamond links pillow covers, because they would spice up our boring plain-jane brown leather couches :)

Jessica - hey there! I totally love the stork silk pillow and the trellis knit pillow! well, i love more, but those are the two that i would pick! why do i love them…the knit one is simple and just cozy to me and the stork one is just a great graphic…and they would both look great in our soon to be newly done living room;) hehe…

Korie Herold - First of all, this give-away makes me want to RUN to West Elm to pick up the Casablanca pillow on your couch IMMEDIATELY. So fabulous. Secondly, on the website, my fav has got to be the hand-blocked silk wave triangle cover (since I couldn’t find the Casablanca, am I blind!?) Thirdly, LOVE your 1 for me, 1 for you posts! We definitely need some pillow makeovers for our guest bedroom. *I* just love ‘Lourdes Sánchez Bull’s Eye’ the blues and grays are perfect for the color direction I want to go in a house some day… Husband had a different favorite, but I told him he’d have to enter himself with that one! haha. Can he even do that?

Jill Bogli - Chalkboard Pillow! (is it bad I had to look three times because I couldn’t remember that name?) I would seriously buy pretty much all of them. I love modern. And who doesn’t like scribbles?
