Just Because: Casey and Cam

Where to start with Cam and Casey! I’ve known Cam for quite some time. Nineteen years, give or take. I remember being at the hospital right after he was born, in disbelief that any baby’s head could be so huge. And then high-fiving Lorae for our spot-on prediction of what our brother’s nose would look like via Dr. Seuss’s “My Book About Me: By Me, Myself” and the simple knowledge that the name Cameron means ‘crooked nose’… ;) Now Casey I’ve only known for about a year. She’s one of those people you meet and instantly like – no, LOVE – without necessarily knowing why. Beside the fact, of course, that she’s one of the sweetest, most genuine, and beautiful souls on God’s great earth. Literally. But Cam and Casey, together? That might just be the most beautiful thing.. And I am beyond thrilled that they let me shoot them while home in NY last week. Here are a few – okay, a bajillion – images from their “just because” session. C & C, your big sister loves you both SO much more than you know. And she’s so proud of who you are. Together. XOXO!!

I was NOT kidding about this girl, Internet… And Cam, while I do feel obligated to poke fun at you for the head you’ve grown in to, we all know you’re a stud.

I LOVED shooting back home in an environment complete with trees and grass and plenty of rolling hills. Every one of these images was taken right outside our family’s home in Sharon Springs. And this shot is one of my absolute faaavorite favorites. :)
undefined
These two took direction so well, I was beside myself. And even when they did their own thang, they were just too darn cute not to photograph.
undefined
undefined
Can you belieeeve this beautifully-murky light going on? I loved it.
undefined
undefined
It’s always fun challenging myself to shoot the same location I’ve shot at multiple times before in a completely different way. So stoked about this image!
undefined
undefined
To CAM! :)
undefined
Hey Casey, for how much moolah would you consider cutting off all of your gorgeous locks and giving them to me instead?
undefined
Casey was SO easy to shoot in so many ways. But the best part was always her adorable nervous-laugh reaction to compliments from behind the camera. Particularly after asking her to give me a serious face and then gushing at how stinking amazing she was doing. :P
undefined
We then headed out into the middle of the road, where exactly three cars drove by during a solid half-hour of shooting. The perks of living/shooting in a small town!
undefined
And I don’t even know what else to say that I haven’t already said…
undefined
Right in front of the house.
undefined
And a few by the willow tree next to the driveway. I sorta kinda want a canvas of this. Then again… Is that weird? :)
undefined
Cam posed up a stooorm. A pseudo-client after mine own heart!
undefined
undefined
undefined
Yay!! That’s my house. Miss it already!
undefined
Ohhh Cam. Never say I’m not funny. Because, CLEARLY, I am. :) P.S. Looking quite handsome.
undefined
Yet another example of the crazy-face-post-serious-face phenomenon. :)
undefined
Laaawve.
undefined
undefined
undefined
undefined
GAH. Like? For real?
undefined
After another outfit change, we ventured out back one more time. The picture on the right makes me soo very happy and mushy inside.
undefined
undefined
Love me some CAM!!
undefined
undefined
And the final picture we shot. But not because I couldn’t have gone on forever. :)

Happy Wednesday!!

Memorial Park Headshots: Alicia Pyne Photography

Seven months, one week and five days ago, Dylan and I left the comfort of home and family to move 1,800 miles away. We traded Wegmans for Randalls, pizza for tacos, and friends for, well, no friends… Moving to a state we’d never been, with faces we didn’t recognize wasn’t easy, but we’ve been so blessed to develop some amazing friendships during this past half-year. Many of them are clients or other Houston photographers. But Alicia Pyne is both. I had the honor of meeting Alicia during her mentor session a few months back, and was instantly smitten with her sweet heart and readiness to laugh at my stupid jokes. :) Last weekend, I had the additional honor of shooting Alicia‘s new head shots. But it was more like hanging out with a friend. With one epic teal-tufted chair..

Alicia – Thank you SO much for the opportunity to shoot your beautiful face! I am blessed by your friendship. And I hope you enjoy your images!! XOXO!!

Introducing the teal-tufted chair. Read *THIS* post by Alicia to hear the backstory. It’s pretty fun. :)
Do werk, girl!
Alicia, you’re so fabulous, I can’t even stand it…
Oh sweet, beautiful haze. How I love thee.
Favorite, and faaavorite. Can’t you just hear her laugh?
Windblown looks good on you.
This was likely when I began freaking out about the possibility of rattlesnakes in the grass. This is Alicia all, “Puh-lease, New Yorker!”
This light was divine.
And then I stuck her in some weeds. The following two shots are probably my most favorites!
Special shout out to Miss Kaley Gross, who shadowed us on our shoot! XOXO!!
How gorgeous is she?!
And one more just to show off those stunning eyes.

Happy Thursday, all! :)

Lauren Trejo - OMG! I love these pictures! Alicia you are beautiful! Alyse, great job taking these pics. You have captured her perfectly :)

Blair Pyne - What did you do with my wife! That is not my wife up there! This women is a Model. Alyse if these pictures you took are really of my wife than God darn it I am one lucky man!!! I married a Model and an Artist, who would have ever thought a small town boy of 598 people in 1980,674-1990 could have ever managed to find such a beautifully women like Alicia. Thanks for taking great photos of her, but I told her I could have done it with a disposable camera. Needless to say she thought that idea was not a good one, and wanted a bit more professionalism to show in her head shots than what I had to offer.

Stephanie Bachle - Beautiful shots Alyse! Alicia, you look just gorgeous! Your eyes ARE stunning!

Noël - fabulous!!!!!

Alicia Pyne - Love Love Love them!! You are so great!! Big XO’s to You!! (and that baby dog of yours)

kris milo - can’t.stop.staring.at.the.ENORMOUS.Lens :)

great shots!

Patricia - Splendid.

Syracuse, NY Headshots: Mabyn Ludke Photography

My entire college career was spent admiring her work from afar. She was, you know, the photog with that pretty ML logo. The girl who was friends with all my other friends. The friends who persistently asked each of us if we’d ever met. Because after all, it was pretty darn obvious that we should be friends too.

It was during my senior year that we found our friends to be correct. I met Mabyn for the first time when having a consultation with her for our own wedding photography. (That’s right, the infamous Mabyn Ludke shot our wedding!! And you can see it here!) Right then and there, sitting in a booth at Bubble Tea on Marshall Street, laughing much too loudly, and likely outstaying our welcome, we realized we are basically the same person. Right then and there, we became friends. And I am so incredibly thankful.

Fast forward to June… When Mabyn blogged our images, she wrote about the pressure she felt shooting another wedding photographer’s big day. I laughed in total confidence in her artistic vision and competence with all things technical. But when she asked me to shoot her new headshots just a couple short weeks ago, I totally knew how she’d felt. On a much smaller scale of course, but still, I knew. :) Mabyn and I spent last Wednesday afternoon shooting at The Aurora Inn and E.B. Morgan House, some new FAVE venues, and as per usual, laughing much too loudly.

Mabs – I LOOOVE YOU! Thank you so much for the honor of shooting your beautiful self! Let’s be friends forever, mkay? ;) Enjoy! XOXO!!

The E.B. Morgan House was incredible! And it totally fit the aesthetic we were going for.
Isn’t she adorable? Just love her!!
Oh Mabyn, you make my job waaay too easy. :)
Two of my favorites!
LOVED this old camera Mabyn brought along to play with!
Thesaurus.com‘s synonyms for “beautiful” ain’t got nothin’ on you. Believe me, I looked.
Doesn’t she strike you as the editor of some super chic magazine?
MMMM. Yes.
We then shot around outside the The Aurora Inn. Also, a HUGE thank you to Miss Heather Davidson, the wedding and events coordinator for both venues, for letting us in/out and hanging out with us all day! We love you, Heather!! :)
It was FREEZING. But mah girl was a champ.
Fabulosity.
Giiiirl. She worked it.
I then enticed Mabyn to take off her jacket for a few minutes. I do believe it was worth it!
NEED that cardigan!
Dear Mabyn, please do not kill me for posting these. K, great. :)
Don’t let her modelesque-self trick you. She can also be rather silly. Hence, our friendship. :)
And the last of them…
Happy Thursday y’all!!
